Sun Ultra 20 arrived
Yesterday finally my Sun Ultra 20 arrived and due to lack of
time I tried the preinstalled Solaris. It needed 3 reboots until it
was configured (that reminds me of Windows) or whatever they call
that state. I was asked for the root password but not for creating
a user account which every current linux distribution and even
Windows XP does. The preinstalled Xorg was misconfigured as the
keyboard driver was set to "Keyboard" instead of "kbd". I ran
xorgconfig and edited the result with vi changing the bogus driver
but the created config results in a black screen which I cannot
even kill with ctrl-alt-backspace.
So my conclusion after ~45 minutes of Solaris: time to install
Debian
